Bettie Jo Barton

Bettie Jo “B.J.” Barton died peacefully in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on September 16th, 2021 at the age of 80.

Bettie Jo is survived by several cousins and close friends. Bettie Jo is also survived by her loving companion Bella, her Boston Terrier. Bettie Jo is preceded in death by her mother Jennie Persons, by her father Thomas Persons and by her husband Robert Barton.

Bettie Jo was born in Alva, Oklahoma on August 22nd, 1941 to parents Jennie Persons and Thomas Persons. Bettie Jo attended Kiowa High School in Kiowa, Kansas and graduated in 1959. She then attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, she graduated in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree. Bettie Jo was married to Robert Barton on June 2, 1963, whom she shared her life with for over 50 years. Bettie Jo worked as a HMDA and Loan Review Manager for Wells Fargo for many years and many of her employees and co-workers became her honorary “kids.” Her special interests included quilting, sewing and ancestry.

No memorial service will take place. Her ashes will be interred at a later date alongside her parents at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas.
