Betty Jane Hogate

June 22, 1924 — September 21, 2008

HOGATE- Betty Jane Hogate, 84, formerly of Ottawa, IL, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, at the Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, NM. Betty was born June 22, 1924, in Astoria, IL, to Gilbert F. and Hildur Marie (Malmberg) Bader. She grew up in Illinois and Kansas, and attended nurses training before marrying Morris Bateman Hogate. She lived many years in Ottawa, and held several food service positions there, including manager of the Township High School Cafeteria, and the bakery at Handy Foods. Upon retirement in 1987, she moved to Placitas, NM. She loved the Southwest, and enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. She is survived by her daughter, Hildy L. Hogate, of Placitas, NM; two granddaughters, Chris Aubry and husband, Paul, of Ottawa, IL, and Cathy Rider and husband, Scott, of Lawson, MO; her daughter-in-law, Mary Hogate, of Mendota, IL; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, a sister, and her son, James Michael "Mike" Hogate. Her family would like to thank the staff of Total Community Care for the loving care and friendship which they showered on Betty over the past 7 years, as well as the staff at the Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, where she resided the past 2 years. Her quick smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place, and private Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Ottawa, IL, with a Memorial Service to be announced at a future date. Funeral Services are entrusted to:
