LA PLATA Betty A. Long Nov. 2, 1935 - May 16, 2009 Betty A. Long, 73, of La Plata, went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 16, 2009. She was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Haskell, Texas, to Floyd M. and Nellie Rogers. We will miss our beloved bride, sister, mom, granny, great-granny, friend and inspirational leader. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by several brothers and sisters. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Pete Long; five children, Pat Sword(Steve) of Aztec, Robert Long of Cortez, Bill Long (Loydeen) of La Plata, Marilyn Shorter (Ronnie) of Flora Vista, Cherilyn Pearson (Randy) of Bloomfield and one adopted daughter, Natalie Hubbard (Johnathon) of La Plata. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Rogers of Texas; and sister, Donna Dunkhorst of Farmington. Pallbearers are Floyd Sword, Marty Long, Kenneth Sword, Donnie Shorter, Samuel Andrew Jr. and Aaron Maurer. Honorary pallbearers are her grand kids and great-grand kids.
