Age 78, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Globe, AZ on February 21, 1940, to Clark and Ruby Peters Russell. The family moved from Globe to Luna, NM where she attended elementary school. She then attended and graduated from high school in Reserve, NM. When she met and married Winfield Scott Martin they lived in San Acacia, NM and farmed there for over 35 years. Betty was a farmer at heart. She enjoyed gardening and grew a lot of their food in her vegetable garden. She loved working on the farm and raising her baby calves. Betty and Scott were members of the Mule and Donkey Club and traveled to many places to show their mules and received several awards. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Winfield Scott Martin; brothers, Johnny Russell, Clark "Bud" Russell, Jr., Lynn Russell, and Leonard Russell; sisters, Bertha Sweeten and Emma Derrick. Betty is survived by daughter, Chloe Miller and husband, Scott; sister, Ruby Lorraine Davis and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Ashley Miller and companion, William McClendon, and Cody Miller; great-grandson, Oliver McClendon. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at Daniels Family Funeral Services Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro. Burial will take place at San Acacia Cemetery following service. Pallbearers will be Jim Russell, Bill Russell, Bucky Russell, Bobby Long, Clay Russell, Kenneth Derrick, Glen Derrick, Gary Derrick, Jerry Russell, Wayland Russell and Trenton Parnell.
