Betty “June” McMullen (née Armstrong), of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the age of 86.
June was born to parents Luther and Celeste “Mimi’ Armstrong on June 24, 1930 in Clinton, OK. She grew up in Oklahoma where she met Art McMullen, who was renting her parent’s garage apartment. She married him in 1950 and the couple had three daughters. They divorced in 1974 and later re-married 1981 - 1992. She moved from Oklahoma and lived in New Mexico, California and Hawaii before finally residing in New Mexico when not traveling to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. She worked at various locations throughout New Mexico, including many years at the Ben Mur Indian Market Center. Throughout her life, she exhibited her child-like enthusiasm for life and the Lord – active in her community and church and dedicated to her family. She faithfully prayed for her large family daily.
June is survived by her daughters, Melissa Winston, Carin Lippincott and Donna Stewart; nine grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Art McMullen; her parents, Luther and Celeste; her sister Wanda Lou and her brothers, Albert Mack and Robert Jack Armstrong.
