Betty Perry

Betty Jane (Norris) Perry, August 1, 1931-September 1, 2019. Betty Jane Norris Perry, a long-time resident of Socorro and Catron Counties, died Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Presbyterian Anna Kaseman Hospice Center in Albuquerque, NM. Born August 1, 1931, in Mason County Texas, Betty traveled with her parents, Sam and Ellie Norris, in 1934, to homestead in Pie Town, NM, where she met the love of her life, Glenn Perry.  They married August 30, 1946, and had five children: Charlotte, Larry, Gary, Shanna and Cheryl. Family was her life and love, always.  Betty loved to cook for them, can and freeze fruits and vegetables, sew, quilt, and enjoy the babies.  Her family and thousands of Socorro High School students will always remember her as the lunch lady who made the best rolls. She was the Socorro High School head cook from 1966-1991. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ellie Norris, her beloved husband Glenn Perry, her brothers, Granville, Rex, and Jimmie Norris, son Gary Perry, daughter Charlotte Jones, son-in-law Frank Allison, grandsons Tyler Clymo and Casey Jones, and granddaughter Duana Kight.  She leaves behind her loving daughters Shanna Allison and Cheryl Crosley (husband-Randy), son Larry Perry (wife-Michele), son-in-law Wilton Jones, daughter-in-law Vannetta Perry, her bonus sisters Kitty Norris and Ina Fay Hudgens, ninety-five grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and Sammy, her furry friend, all of whom brought her great joy and happiness throughout her life. A Reception to honor Betty will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019, from 5:00-8:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Socorro, NM. Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, 10:00 am, at First Baptist Church Socorro. Interment to follow at Greer Cemetery, north of Pie Town, NM, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Presbyterian Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Unit, 8300 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87110.
