To Our Mother
Your indomitable spirit guided us
In our family's long journey
From China to Taiwan, to New York,
Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan,
Florida, Illinois and New Mexico.
You loved celebrating with friends,
Playing mah-jongg, good food, good shoes
And the song "You Are My Sunshine."
You taught us how to bloom
And make our own lives
From ashes of the past.
Mom, we love you so much.
You will always be our sunshine.
