Billy ''Bill" Claybrook

August 7, 1926 — March 5, 2021

Billy “Bill” Claybrook, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM at the age of 94.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Joanne Stuart; daughter, Carol Lamkin and her husband, Tim of Albuquerque, NM; son, Russell and wife Susan Claybrook of Belgrade, ME; and grandsons, Steven Russell Claybrook of Jacksonville, FL, and David Benjamin Claybrook of Old Town, ME. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, E. Grover and Lockie Claybrook, and his half-sister Doris Dedmon.

Bill was born on August 7, 1926 in Milan, Tennesse. He attended Milan High School and graduated from Murray State College with a degree in Business Administration.

Bill was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. For over 36 years he worked as a cinematographer, a movie producer, and at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Once he retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory, he moved to Rio Rancho, NM.

Bill was a dedicated Christian, who loved his family, church and country. He was always actively involved in the community in many ways. He was an active member of The United Church of Los Alamos where he served as an elder and many other areas of leadership. He was a lifetime member of the Los Alamos Elks Lodge, an Associate member of San-Bern FRW, and past president of the New Mexico Industrial Photographers of the Southwest.

He will be remembered for his compassion for others as well as his quick humor. He will be missed.

 

A Memorial contribution can be made in Bill’s name to Storehouse West in Rio Rancho or to High Desert United Methodist Church in Rio Rancho.

 


 

A private service for Billy Claybrook has already been held.

Services at Santa Fe National cemetery will take place at a later date.
