Billy Odel Makin, age 68, passed away September 17, 2020 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was born November 29, 1951, to Linford Odel Makin and Ethel Adina Cole, in Benton, Arkansas. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Henderson County Junior College, in Athens, Texas. He served our country for 15 years in the United States Air Force. He served during Operation Desert Shielded/Storm (August 1990 - September 1992). He was honorably discharged on September 1, 1995. He received numerous awards and medals, including: Air Force Natl Def SUC MDL, Air Force Overseas short Tour RBN W/1 OLC, Air Force Longevity SUC AWD RBN W/Z OLC, Air Force NCO PME GRAD RBN, Air Force Trng RBN, Air Force Security Specialist 4 years and 2 months, Air Force Outstanding Service and Support to the Wolfpack CBPO Jan 89 - Jan 90 Kunsan AB, Korea, and AF Achievement MDL/AF Outstanding Unit AWD. He was married to Pol Kim Kil for ten years. Billy retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of service. He received numerous awards, including Expert Driver Award for more than 15 years of safe driving, USPS Special Achievement Award "Zero Bundles" 1998 and USPS Special Achievement Awards in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004.
Billy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James Makin and Christina Riley of Rio Rancho, NM; brother, Ronnie Webb of Rio Rancho, NM; and sister, Renna Robles of Rio Rancho, NM.
