Billy Joe Mars

Bill Mars, 68, of Aztec, passed from this life peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, March 4, 2011. He was born on August 11, 1942 in Elida, NM to James and Faye Mars. He grew up in Elida and Bayfield, Colorado. He graduatd from Bayfield High School in 1961 and attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served the U.S. Navy from 1961 - 1965 and flew 29 missions in Vietnam. He married Patricia Davis on April 30, 1966. Bill's passion in life was team roping where he made many life long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clint; and brothers, Jim and Cecil. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat; son Scott (Cory); daughter, Joede (Joe) Frazzini; special daughter-in-law, Kimberlee Mars; seven grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and numerous neices and nephews.
