Bobby Wyatt Sykes

Bobby Wyatt Sykes, age 73, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Albuquerque.  He is survived by his daughters, Rhiannon Chavez and husband, Gabriel of Albuquerque, NM, and Deidre Sykes-Owens and husband, Darrell of Sutton, MA; son, Gavin Sykes; sister, Patricia Sykes-Trotter of Chicago, IL; and granddaughter, Aurelia Lola Chavez of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bobby was born in Lineville, AL on July 22, 1945, to Wallace and Lola Sykes. Bobby graduated from the University of Kansas in 1977 with his PH. D. in Developmental and Child Psychology. He served in the US Army where he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He loved building cars, working on his '82 Corvette, hunting, playing with his granddaughter and model trains. Bobby was an Ordained minister and member of the Second Baptist Church in Maywood, IL. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 5, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at La Fonda Hotel, 100 E. San Francisco St., Santa Fe, NM.
