Bonnie Jean Hackney

January 2, 1945 — November 26, 2017

Bonnie Jean (BJ) Hackney

After many years of health issues, Bonnie went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26, 2017.  Bonnie was a woman of great faith who never waivered in her trust that God would take care of her whether in this world or the next.  She prayed fervently for her loved ones and comforted folks with her calm and visible strength.

She was married to Jim Hackney for 46 years.  They enjoyed being active and were able to travel the world as a military family.  Bonnie was a very skilled bowler and was active in her church in Ohio.  She was a member of the Anderson Hills Christian church there.  In 2015 she and Jim moved to Albuquerque to be close to her brother who had lived here for many years.  She and Jim belong to Sombra Del Monte Christian Church where she will have her last visit on Saturday, December 2nd at 1pm.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Margia and family, from Decatur, Alabama; her brother, Jerry and family from Birmingham, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Virginia Ginn, from Albuquerque, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Her niece, Edie Davis, who was special to her, will deliver the eulogy.

Bonnie always had a book in her hand and a dog in her lap.  She adored animals and donated to many of the animal humane organizations.  She was a collector of angels, Scottie dogs, owls, and butterflies.

She had friends throughout the world with whom she continued to correspond.  She loved writing letters and sending cards for birthdays and other special occasions.  Her nieces and nephews could always count on something special from their Auntie BJ.  She did not have children of her own, but had many children of the heart.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church Memorial in honor of Bonnie Jean Hackney.
