Bonnie R. Mahan, 79, of Farmington, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Farmington. She was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Farmington, to Bessie Rosetta (Dye) and Otis Fred Mahan. Bonnie graduated from Farmington High School with the Class of 1950. She worked as a bookkeeper for Erickson Pontiac, Joe Zeims' Ford Corners, Thriftway, KENN Radio, Walmart, IT's the Berry's and Shanna Baird. She loved to garden and work outside, as well as woodworking, painting and many crafts. Bonnie was a very loving, kind and gentle person who helped many people. She willingly took care of her mother once her Dad passed away. She spent her life taking care of others until she was no longer able to do so. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Fred Mahan and Bessie Mahan; brothers, Lee Mahan, Carl Mahan and Ralph Mahan; and sisters, Nora (Mahan) Doerr and Jessie (Mahan) Lake. She is survived by her aunt, Mabel Peek; her sister-in-law, Shirley Mahan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that she helped raise as her own. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today, June 25, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 N. Oliver Drive in Aztec. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 25, at the same location. Bishop Garen Tea will conduct the service. Interment will follow the services, at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. Pallbearers are Acel Lake, Lynn Lake, George Lake, Sterling Mahan, Kelton Mahan, Bruce Mahan, Richard Mahan and Leonard Foyt.
