Boyd L. Pruitt

PRUITT - Boyd L. Pruitt, age 76, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama and was a resident of LaJara, NM. Boyd was a Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, Los Guadalupanos. His Ministry as a Eucharistic Minister gave him comfort especially when he took communion to the sick; as well as being a Lector and a counter for Santo Nino Catholic Church in LaJara, NM. He enjoyed traveling; and was an avid Crimson Tide fan. Boyd loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nancy Pruitt; his wife, Virginia Pruitt; son, Christopher Pruitt; brothers, Pete and Larry Pruitt; and in-laws, Delfido and Apolonita Gurule. Boyd is survived by his loving children, Joseph Pruitt and wife Helen, Kathleen Gallegos and husband Mel, Thomas Pruitt and wife Paula, Connie Sandoval and husband Anthony; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his loving siblings, Betty Coats, Johnny Pruitt and wife Wanda, Ray Pruitt, Faye Pollard, Carol Haggard and husband Gene; and numerous extended relatives and friends. Boyd will be great missed by all. Visitations will be today (Friday) from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Santo Nino Church in LaJara, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Santo Nino Catholic Church in LaJara, NM. Interment will be on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Casket Bearers will be Andrea Pruitt, Joey Pruitt, Philip Gallegos, Lukas Gallegos, Jacqueline Gallegos, Matthew Sandoval and Kristin Sandoval. Honorary Bearers will be Chloe Pruitt, Tom Pruitt, Mikayla Pruitt, Jonah Perez and Eli Gallegos. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Santo Nino Catholic Church in LaJara, NM.
