Brenard C. "Pete" Hughes

Hughes, Brenard C. "Pete" 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home in San Acacia, NM. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, NE on May 22, 1924 to John Dorman and Amanda Elizabeth (Royer) Hughes. Pete was a resident of San Acacia for about 25 years. He proudly served with the United States Navy from 1943-1945. He worked and retired after 25 years with the NM Game and Fish Department. Pete was a very hard working man and would waste no time. The daylight hours were for being productive and that he was, a jack of all trades around the family home. He loved to work, hunt with his hounds, and farm. Pete started the first mule races in Socorro back in the late 60's. He was a strong man and left behind many values for his family to carry on. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother; his wife, Jean (Martin) Hughes in 1975; his second wife, Alicia (Gutierrez) Hughes in 2010; and his daughter, Debbie Hughes. Brenard is survived by his sons, Daniel Hughes and wife, Esther; and Shawn Hughes and friend, Dolly Anaya; his daughter, Rebecca Bush; his brother, Howard; and his sister, Rhonda. Granddad Pete will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
