Brenda Nixon, 50, passed away June 3, 2015. She was born June 13, 1964, in Chanute, Kansas, to Zelda Anderson and Gary Joseph Hinkle. She was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM. Brenda is survived by her husband of 24 years, Jerry Nixon; her children, Katie & Zachary Nixon; her mother, Zelda Anderson; her sister, Lisa Robinson and husband Kevin; her niece, Ashley Robinson, and nephews, Kenneth and Bradley Robinson; her beloved dog Ginger; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Gary Joseph Hinkle Jr.; father Gary Joseph Hinkle Sr.; paternal grandparents Minnie & Clyde Hinkle; maternal Grandmother Dorothy Hardin; and her uncle, Larry Anderson.

Brenda was a very loving mother, thoughtful wife, sweet and caring daughter, fabulous sister, and rock star aunt. She had a kind, compassionate, and giving nature and never hesitated to help a stranger. When she was younger she was active in 4-H, band, and Student Council. She loved to play softball and was an awesome short stop! Her favorite outdoor sport was fishing and would spend as much time catching Bass as she could. One of her favorite hobbies was photography she love to photograph rustic settings. She enjoyed playing all kinds of games. She was very active in PTA and booster groups and gave her time to support the interest of her children. Her greatest joy was the accomplishments of her children. She served her country honorably in the United States Army and was a disabled veteran. During her 17 years of living in New Mexico she fell in love going to the International Balloon Festival, it was her favorite time of the year. She will be missed by many.

Graveside services will be in Chanute, Kansas on June 13, 2015, 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a Go Fund Me account to assist with funeral costs or donations may be made to your local VFW or American Legion.
