Brian David Thornburg

It is with heavy hearts and much sorrow we announce the passing of Brian David Thornburg. Brian was called to heaven on Friday, November 4, 2022, just eleven days before his 40^th birthday after a month-long, hard fought, battle with pneumonia.  Brian was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 15, 1982 to Dan and Norma Thornburg. He grew up in New Mexico and graduated high school from La Cueva where he and his teammates took the 5A NM State Golf Championship.  He furthered his education at New Mexico State University, on a full-ride golf scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business with an emphasis on marketing.   After graduation, Brian moved to Arizona and then to Tulsa, Oklahoma where his children were born.  He quickly became an OK Sooner fan and enjoyed watching the Sooners play along with the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays.  Brian was an avid and excellent golfer. Golf  was his passion and he excelled at it from youth through adulthood.   Brian was a fun-loving guy and enjoyed boating, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and visiting Lake Powell.  His loving heart and giving spirt were unsurpassed and he lit up a room by just entering. 

Brian is survived by his two children, Bentley Noah Thornburg and Malania Tayah Thornburg, parents Dan and Norma Thornburg, Grandfather Daniel Thornburg, Grandmother Dolores Miles, Aunt Mary Rice and husband Len, Aunt Gloria Miles, cousins Christopher Pierre, wife Crystal and children Xander and Isabelle, Danielle Postel, husband Scott and children Brayden, Brooklyn and Brinley, Jacob Rice, Joshua Rice, wife Caitlynn and son Elijah. Brian was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jane Thornburg, grandfather Edward Miles, Aunt Ruth Thornburg, and other loved family members.   

Funeral services will be held on December 16, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Daniels Family Funerals, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM  87109.
