Conrow, Bruce W.
A legacy of Love...
Age 68 of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at home of congestive heart failure with his loving wife of 42 1/2 years, Marie, by his side. He kept his vow to love, honor and cherish her. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 30, 1948 to Major Russell & Betty Conrow, U.S.A.F. Ret. who preceded him in death.
His love remains with his loving and fiercely protective children, daughter, Christina Hetmer and her fiancé Christopher Graham, son, Matthew Conrow and loving grandson, Kory Hetmer (his partner in joking with Marie) and his grand-puppy, Buster. He loved his family deeply and eternally. His love will also remain with his brother and sister-in-law, Paul Conrow, Dennis & Dora Drinkwater, James & Rhonda Drinkwater, William Drinkwater and family, Melody & Rich Wagner and family, Deborah & Mike Hanrahan and family, Dawne & James Holling and family, Tim Drinkwater, Catherine Drinkwater and family, also many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Bruce was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and son-in-law. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
He worked hard all his life and worked for the same company for 39 years as a Mechanical Draftsman, in spite of the challenge of heart disease. He gave of himself and his time to anyone who needed help. The world is a much emptier place without his wonderful soul.
In the 1970's he enjoyed his CB radio in his car, which he referred to as the "Jolly Roger Mobile;" his handle was 'Blackbeard' although his beard turned to chrome he still used his handle.
He also enjoyed fishing especially shrimping in the Atlantic Ocean as a teen. His favorite hobby was model trains which he tinkered with all his life. He really liked elephant jokes and told them often especially to children. His favorite was.. "Why did the elephant paint his toenails red?" "Why?" To hide in the cherry tree. Did you ever see an elephant in a cherry tree?" No "Works doesn't it?"
So, Blackbeard in the Jolly Roger Mobile, KES-6522, 10-7 (out of service).
Services will be held a later date.
