Calvin William Allen

March 14, 1973 — April 26, 2020

Calvin William Allen III, age 47, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020. He was born in the Bronx, New York on March 14, 1973 to Calvin Allen II and Clara Turner Allen. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 from the University of New Mexico and earned awards such as Most Improved Player, and All WAC Honorable Mention in 1994. Calvin worked his way up at Southern Wine and spirts, starting in the warehouse and moving up to Brand Manager where he earned awards from the Canadian Club, Absolute, Team Leader, and from the Society of the Crown (Crown Royal). He was a key partner of the New Mexico Bowl. Calvin married Michelle on July 6, 1996. He enjoyed playing softball and golf.

Calvin was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. The size of his heart defined him more than the size of his body, and please remember his nickname was “Eclipse – because he blocked out the sun.” He always expected the best from himself and all those around him.

He was preceded in death by his father Calvin Allen II; his grandfather Calvin Allen Sr.; and his grandmother GiGi Allen. Calvin is survived by Michelle Tregembo-Allen, his son Calvin William Allen IV; daughter Kyra Olivia Allen; and his dogs Zeus and Cleo.

Calvin was loved by all, known for his big heart, generosity, and willingness to help those in need. Pallbearers are: Aaron Saavedra, Robbie Flores, Steph Triandafilidis, Eugene Etheredge, Dana Carpenter and Abe Perez.

Honorary pallbearers are: Diego Baca, Miles Adkins, Winslow Oliver, Mckeithan Smith, John Matucci, Anthony Marquez, Kim McCall, Kyler Choi, Tom Choi, Mike Fernandez, Fred Lujan, and John Martinez.

Thank you to the paramedics and firefighters who did all they could to keep Calvin with us.

To all of Calvin's family and friends, please know we will hold a celebration of life at a later date when we can gather, share stories and toast his life. If you feel you need to come to the visitation we ask you wear protective masks, and maintain 6 feet from other mourners. There will be a social distancing line which will go through the Daniel's funeral home and then outside if necessary. Only 5 or less people can pay their condolences at a time, so we have set up the following schedule to allow for the shortest lines, and safest environment. Each group will be able to say their goodbyes to Big Cal, then greet the family, and then leave. Again, we will have a celebration of life at a later date to honor his memory.
