Calvin Coolidge Perry

March 23, 1943 — March 9, 2025

Calvin Coolidge Perry, 81, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, departed this life on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born in Van Alstyne, Texas on March 23, 1943, the eleventh of twelve children to John and Willie Mae Perry. The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1952. Calvin graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1961 and in 1963 began his career at the Sunport working for Continental Airlines. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967 and was Stationed at Sandia Base for the entire tour, one mile from his house. After being Honorably discharged, he resumed his career with Continental and retired in March of 1995.

On July 7, 1968, Calvin met Brenda Bruce at Roosevelt Park. They were married the following July, at Grant Chapel AME Church. Two children were born to this union, Stephanie and Stephen. Family was so important to Calvin. He was a loving husband, a fantastic father, an outstanding Grandpa, the “fun” Uncle, a great brother, and a terrific friend. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominoes. He especially loved RVing, the Dallas Cowboys, Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, the Golden Girls and playing with his grandchildren. He liked being “the life of the party” and had lots of life-long friends. After Brenda retired in 2002, the empty-nesters relocated to Oklahoma City. They belong to Victory Family Church where they discovered fantastic friends who also truly love the Lord.

Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Willie Mae, who were affectionately known as “Doc” and Mama Willie; his siblings, Laura Lee McKinney, Johnie “Cube” Perry, Nettie Williams, Mamie Sessions, Nina Pearl Owens, Marshall “Pete” Perry, Jesse “Sandy” Perry, Mary Jane Jordan, L. Louise Skinner, and Alexander “Bub” Perry.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda of Oklahoma City, OK; children, Stephanie and her husband Eric of Boise, ID; Stephen of Santa Rosa, CA; his youngest brother, Frank and his wife, Linda of Lake Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Cameron and his wife, Kelly of Seattle, WA; Lauren, of Boise, ID; and Paige of Phoenix, AZ; and a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
