October 18, 1932 – February 6, 2025
Heaven gained an angel as Carmela Legendre passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 92. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
Born on October 18,1932, in New York City, Carmela made her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, in 1975, where she built a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Carmela was the most selfless and giving soul, a proud Italian grandmother who expressed her love through food, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. To all who knew her, she will be remembered as the grandma who never stopped feeding us, nourishing not only our bodies but our hearts as well.
A devout Catholic, Carmela lived her faith every day with unwavering devotion and kindness. Her generosity, love, and deep sense of family will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind.
Carmela is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Legendre; her two sons, Ralph Legendre and Paul Legendre; and her daughter-in-law, Kim Legendre.
She is survived by her loving son, Roger Legendre; her devoted daughters-in-laws, Gina Duda and Barbara Legendre; her cherished grandchildren: Joseph Legendre, Marlo and Michael Gutierrez, Michael and Maria Legendre, Roger Legendre, Tony and Valerie Legendre, Nicole and Adam Arya, Christopher and Olivia Legendre, Robert Legendre, Chrycia Legendre, and Amanda Legendre; and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry on her legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family.
Carmela’s love was boundless, her faith unwavering, and her generosity unmatched. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
