Carol Ann Ballard Pressley

April 29, 1941 — May 18, 2020

Carol Ann Ballard Pressley graced the world on April 29, 1941. Born in Buffalo, NY she grew up enjoying extended family, especially on the shores of Lake Ontario. She spent her younger years in Rochester, NY, receiving a Catholic education at St. Augustine’s and Elizabeth Ann Seton schools where she was recognized for her efforts in fundraising for missions. Upon graduating from St. Joseph’s college with a degree in English, Carol began a career in the CIA stationed in Germany. She traveled extensively and found the love of her life, Jim Pressley, to whom she was engaged in St. Mark’s Square, Venice. They married on May 27th, 1967, which is the day they both were laid to rest.

They began their family in Colorado, starting in Alamosa at Adam’s State University. They raised their family in the Denver area until moving to Albuquerque, NM where Carol mothered her daughter and son with dedicated affection. Carol was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Annunciation for over 40 years and was an active member of the Women’s Guild, providing prayer and service to the parish community. She participated in a Renew group for close to 30 years, and had spent the last 13 in a Little Rock Bible Study, always seeking to know God better. She also had an extension of deep friendships with her Beta Sigma Phi sisters who made here an honorary member. She loved socializing and nurturing relationships.

Carol enjoyed grand parenting since 1997, welcoming 7 grandchildren joyfully over the years. She visited the Pacific NW often to see her daughter Rebecca and husband Brian and their 5 children: Samantha, Jamin, Naomi, Maleah, and AnnaMae. She enjoyed her son Matt and daughters Ava and Kayla locally for most of their lives. They all survive her and will miss her immensely. They all have fond memories of playing board games, staying up late talking, and helping her with tying of shoes, and chauffeuring her by wheelchair as needed. Personal FaceTime’s were always a highlight. Grandma always made sure she wore lipstick and had several tubes around the house!  She was the queen of little details to make them feel special. The best part was she always prayed for them.

Carol leaves a legacy of friendship and love. She will be dearly missed by her neighborhood family as well. Every friend she had was lifelong. She is remembered by all for her hospitality, listening ear, and happy demeanor. She made everyone feel at home. Her passing exemplifies Love returning to Itself. We thank the Lord for the wonderful gift of our Mother. There was none better. We love you mom!  To view information or leave a condolence please visit www.danielsfuneral.com
