Carol Ann Nesbitt

April 24, 1935 — November 10, 2008

NESBITT_Carol Ann Nesbitt, 73, died suddenly on November 10, 2008 from an aneurysm. Carol was born April 24, 1935 the daughter of Llewelyn and Catherine Oest Pugh in New York, New York. Carol's adult life was spent giving to others: from her start volunteering in the school library and at the United Methodist Church of Hempstead, NY to teaching English to immigrants in the 1980's and working tirelessly to help them obtain their legal status in the United States. The last 17 years of her life was spent working as Executive Director of Storehouse West in Rio Rancho, NM; a job that was a labor of love for her. She was a very active member of the High Desert United Methodist Church of Rio Rancho. Carol also loved volunteering her time alongside her daughter, Debbie, working with the animals of Second Chance Animal Rescue. Her endless energy and concern for other people and animals were an inspiration to all who knew her. Carol's other interests included gardening, cooking, birdwatching, soccer, and especially spending time with her grandsons and her rescued pets. Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Glen Nesbitt of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter Karen Kelly and husband Kevin Kelly of Levittown, NY, and daughter Deborah Nesbitt-Duck and husband Ken of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Logan Kelly, Owen Kelly, Bobby Duck, and Ben Duck; sister, Catherine Neumann of Peralta, NM; nephews, Christopher Hansen, John Hansen, and David Nelson; brother-in-law, Paul Nesbitt and wife Gail of Pennsylvania; and nieces Donna Nesbitt, and Tammy Nesbitt. Her family and her community will miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Storehouse West, 1030-F Veranda Drive SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124; (505) 892-2077.
