Carrie L. Norero

Carrie L. Norero was blessed with a long and full life. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 21, 2017 at the age of 89.  She was born on January 7, 1928 in Derry, New Mexico, the fifth of six children, to Santiago Luchini and Dora Luchini (Otero).  She married Miguel (Mike) Norero on September 2, 1951 to whom she was married for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Mike, her beloved daughter Darlene “Dinie” Norero, sister Virginia Sullivan and brother Leo Luchini.  She is survived by her sister Helen Vigil of Stockton, CA, and brothers Ray Luchini and Jim Luchini, both of Las Cruces, NM, and children Karen Easley of Moriarty, NM, Carla and Daryl Hart of Rio Rancho, NM, Tom and Violeta Norero of Roseville, CA, and Mike and MaryAnn Norero of Rio Rancho, NM, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.  
She was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish in Albuquerque for many years and later St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho. She was involved in many ministries throughout her life such as St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Daughters and took Communion to several nursing homes. She could always be counted on to help out where needed.  Most recently she was involved in the Rosary Guild, making numerous rosaries which were sent throughout the world.  
Carrie was well known for her excellent cooking and baking skills and often neighbors showed up to sample her bread, cakes, pies, cinnamon rolls, etc. She was also famous for her pizza nights where she would prepare home-made pizzas, including her famous green chili pizza. Neighbors and friends were always welcome. She had special pizza nights for her daughter Dinie’s Duke City Dashers Track Team and the UNM Women’s Track Team. Carrie also regularly invited orphan children to her home for holidays with her family. Carrie was also famous at Queen of Heaven rectory and convent as they always received a hefty percent of her baked goods to enjoy.
Carrie defined what generous, loving and selfless meant. She was deeply religious and loved God dearly, always living by her principals. She provided an excellent example to others. Carrie was always optimistic and thankful, no matter how grave circumstances may have seemed. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.
