Cenia Wenzler

December 27, 1923 — April 3, 2013

WENZLER- Cenia Rudnyk, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, passed away on April 3, 2013. Shortly after the German invasion of the Ukraine in 1941, Cenia, then 17 years old, was transported by the Germans to Rolandswerth, Germany. As a slave worker, she was forced to work in a hotel on the Rhine River, until the war ended in 1945. She met her husband, Ray, in Bremerhaven Germany in September 1945 and they were married in June 15,1946 in a union that lasted for 62 years. After multiple years in New York, they settled in Albuquerque. Cenia was preceded in death by her husband Ray and son Charles. She is survived by her son Joseph and wife Nancy of Kennesaw, Georgia; daughter-in-law Lynn of Scottsdale, Arizona; along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cenia is survived by her special nephew, Vladimir Rudnyk and his family in the Ukraine. Cenia was homemaker, and an avid gardener, seamstress, and cook and was a good friend to her neighbors and circle of friends. She was an active member in her church. A special thank you to the caring staff at Woodmark Assisted Living and Highpointe Assisted Living in Albuquerque. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church by Monsignor Bennett J. Voorhies at 8:30 a.m. on April 11, 2013. Internment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of the Annunciation School- Tuition Assistance. 2532 Vermont NE Albuquerque, NM 87110.
