She continued with her education at Heights Beauty College. Charlene married her high school sweetheart, John Edward Swauger, on June 2, 1961 and the couple recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Charlene's world was centered around her family, daughter, Judy Leckie and husband Scott; daughter, Tracy Seckler and husband Quint; grandchildren, Jordan and Shannon Leckie, Megan, Madison, and Nathan Seckler; sister, Vada Lent and husband Ron; nieces, Gretchen Lent and Heidi Sanders. Her career path started in a beauty salon and evolved to upper management in the hotel business. Charlene served as the President of the Greater Albuquerque Innkeepers Association.
