Charles D Barnard

BARNARD-Charles D. Barnard, 82, passed away on January 15, 2011. A veteran of the United States Army, Charles served our Country in the Korean War from 1950-1952; he was in the Army reserves from 1952-1956 and held the rank of Sgt, MPC-USAR. Charles dedicated his life as a teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools from 1956-1990, teaching history and coaching basketball. He was the first coach at Manzano High School, later becoming a principle at Madison, Hayes, Van Buren, Wilson and Grants middle schools then becoming the south area Superintendent for middle schools. Charles is survived by his wife Donna; son Matthew; Daughters Christine, Catherine and Margie (Bernie); grandchildren, Shawn (Olivia), Tra, Shay (Becca), Crystal, Ryan (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Skyler, Dakota. He is preceded in death by his son, Chris; great-granddaughter Alexandra; his parents, sister and brother. A memorial service will be Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel, and interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
