Charles R. Cogburn “Rooster”, age 86, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born in Strong City, Oklahoma on March 5, 1936, to Sidney and Mildred Cogburn.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sidney and Mildred Cogburn, sister Joann Pasby, mother-in-law Mary Romero and father-in-law Francisco Treviño, brothers-in-law; Jimmy Pasby, Robert Gonzales, Leon Treviño, Richard Treviño, Victor Treviño, Cliff Brown, and Jesus Herrera, sisters-in-law; Frances Brown and Angie Herrera, and niece, Emily Treviño.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Alice Treviño-Cogburn of Los Ranchos, NM, sons Terry L. Cogburn (Corrina) of Corrales, NM, Chuck Cogburn (Lisa) of Tijeras, NM, Robert “Robby” Cogburn of Los Ranchos, NM, Brian Cogburn (Cassie) of Albuquerque, NM. sister Betty Carl of Las Cruces, NM, brother-in-law Jerry Carl of Las Cruces, NM, brother Roy Cogburn and sister-in-law Linda Cogburn; grandchildren Alec, Madison, Tessa, G.C. Adam, Alyssa, Josie, Olivia, Charles and Evan; great-grandchild Brooklyn Cogburn, many nieces and nephews as well as his chihuahua, Leo.
Charles attended and graduated from Woodrow High School in Woodrow, Oklahoma. After high school he joined the Air Force and served for 21 years as a TSgt (technical sergeant). He also worked for the Albuquerque Fire Department for 13 years.
Charles was a family man, spending time with his family was important. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening with his family and was a member of the Sagebrush Church.
