Charles Paul Correll, Jr.

CORRELL - Charles Paul Correll, Jr. affectionately known as Charlie to some and to others, CP, passed away March 19, 2011 at 83 years of age in his home in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born in Oplin, TX, southeast of Abilene, TX, October 31, 1927 to Charles Paul Correll, Sr. and Emmie Lavada Correll. He was the youngest of 13 children. Charles served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II during 1946 and 1947. He was called up again to serve during the Korean War. He was stationed at Supreme Hdqtrs (SHAPE) in Paris, France in 1952-1954. He was employed by Phillips 66 Oil Co. in Melrose and Clovis, NM for 20 years. He then was the Executive Director for the NM Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission in Santa Fe. After retirement, he began following his hobby of picture framing and had shops in Roswell and Rio Rancho for several years until his health declined. He was also on staff for 19 years at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. Only one brother A. D. Correll of Belen, NM survives. He was married to JoAnn Bomholt March 19, 1948 passing away on that date after 63 years of marriage. He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn (Kathy) Ann and her husband Dar Brainard, and Brenda Kay Lee; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 19th and Grande in Rio Rancho at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 with Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. in Vista Verde Cemetery. Memorials will be accepted at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho Building Fund, Rio Rancho, NM.
