Age 79, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Hobbs, NM on February 5, 1937, to Charles R. and Alberta (Pennington) Cottom. Keith had a great sense of humor and great laugh. He enjoyed hunting and loved to play golf. Keith came to Socorro in 1966 and worked at the Eagle Pitcher until it closed. He also worked at the VLA and B & M Feed Store and New Mexico Tech (TERA) for over 20 years before he retired in 1999. Keith was a devoted father and grandfather and loved his dogs. Keith will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him. Keith is survived by his children, Julie Cottom, Gina Cottom and husband, Joel Claus, Dominique Cottom and fiance' Travaris Mallard, and Richard Padilla and wife, Lorena; his mother, Alberta Cottom; his brother, David Cottom and wife, Linda; sister, Joyce McCaskill and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Charles N. Schmidt, Tanner C. Schmidt, Xander E. Hovenstine, Gracie L. Frearson, Issac C. Padilla, Javian N. Padilla, and Ally A. Padilla. A Celebration of Keith's Life will be held at a later date.
