Heitzler, Charles F. Age 97, a resident of New Mexico since 1949, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born in Danville, Virginia, son of Ernest and Emma Heitzler. Charles was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Medical Corps as M/Sgt. He was retired from Butler Paper Company and a member of St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Charles will be remembered in mass at St. Joseph's and interred at the National Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Knott Heitzler of Albuquerque; daughters, Marianne Wright and husband Ivan of Albuquerque, Barbara Schwartz and husband Ed of Wyndham, ME; grandchildren, Meredith Parks of San Antonio, TX, Betsy Schwartz of Seattle, WA, Ben Schwartz of West Newton, MA and great grandchildren, Chase, Emily and Bea. Also surviving Charles are his niece, Susan Heitzler Walters of Cos Cob, Conn, and nephews, Carter Heitzler of Richmond, VA and Michael Heitzler of Florida. Charlie will always be remembered as a true Southern gentleman whose sense of humor and love of family and church were central to his life. In lieu of donations, he requested that his friends say a prayer for all the poor and hungry children of the world.
