Charles "Norman" Holcomb
July 2, 1923 - August 25, 2009
Norman Holcomb has passed on to his heavenly father on August 25, 2009, at the San Juan Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 2, 1923, in Crawford County, Texas, to Charlie L. and Verna Lee Holcomb. He is survived in life by his loving wife of 63 years, Annabelle Holcomb and his children and grandchildren as follows: Children: son, Charles N. Holcomb, Jr. and wife Elaine, daughter, Susan Nystrom and husband Tom, Grandchildren: Tommy Nystrom and wife Cynthia, Nicole SanFilippo and husband Tony, Dusty Nystrom and wife Angi, Great-Grandchildren: Brandon Stock and wife Mandie; Ashley Schmaltz; Brittney Roberts; Brian, Samantha, and Charlee Nystrom; Anthony and Dominic SanFilippo. Great Great-Grandchildren: Kyleigh, Gavin, and Zach Stock. His surviving siblings are: Sally Smoot, Eddie Holcomb and wife Pat, and Claude Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie L. and Verna Lee Holcomb, his sister Wilma Brown, and brother-in-law Russell Smoot. Norman was a WWII Veteran. He was known by his many grandchildren as "PoPo". He was a lively character who enjoyed the pride of a great family, coffee with good friends, and the admiration of all who knew him. He was a life member of the Durango VFW Post # 4031 and also a life member of the Durango Elks Lodge # 507. Pallbearers will be Tommy Nystrom, Dusty Nystrom, Tony San Filippo, Brian Nystrom, Anthony SanFilippo, Brandon Stock, Dominic SanFilippo, and Dennis Gallago. Military Honors will be performed by the Farmington VFW Post # 2182. In lieu of flowers, any remembrance can be made to cancer research or your favorite charity in the name of Norman Holcomb.
