Charles J. "Chuck" Muncy Sr.

Muncy Sr., Charles John 70, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 28, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born in Socorro, NM on January 8, 1944 to Luke Dale and Nellie Lucille (Tucker) Muncy. Charles, or more affectionately known as Chuck, was a lifelong resident of Socorro and Lemitar. He proudly served as a Sergeant with the United States Army from May of 1965 until April of 1967. He fell in love on the dance floor with Patty and they married on December 6, 1967. They have shared a very happy life together, sharing their children, their grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Chuck was a dedicated husband and father. Ranching all his life, owning land in Bingham and in Pueblito, he knew the value of hard work, honesty, integrity, and commitment. His family was his everything. Hard working hands, but tender enough to love his wife and daughters, a heart of gold but strong enough to show "Chucky" all the secrets to an honest living. His faith was strong and he touched the lives of many, he was a mentor with family values always at heart. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they especially, will carry on the legacy of their "Popa". He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eugene; Bobby; Donald; and Billy; and his sister, Sue. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia (Hensley)Muncy; his devoted children, Connie Jo McKinley and husband, Johnny Ray; Charles John "Chucky" Muncy Jr; and Kathy Lucille Muncy; his brother, Dale Muncy and wife, Judy; his sister, Patsy Hinkle; his nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and close friends. "Popa" will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Tyrell Davis and wife, Kacee; Kyle Davis and Karly Chavez; Nicole McKinley; Leon, Leanne, Lelan, and Lamar Fountain; his great grandchildren, Makhayla, Makencie, and (soon to join the clan) Sorrell Davis. While, Chuck is visiting with Jesus, John Wayne, and family up above there will be a Celebration of Chuck's life on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at the family home; a simple pot luck family gathering to celebrate his life, share memories and gather for great food, stories, and fellowship.
