Charles "Chuck" Radaelli, 83, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
Born October 15, 1936 in North Adams, MA, he was the son of Ferdinando and Teresa Radaelli. He was an outstanding athlete at St. Joseph's High School, where he graduated in 1954. He was president of the student council during his senior year, he captained the basketball and baseball teams during his junior and senior years and was named to the All-Berkshire team both years in baseball.
Chuck entered the service in 1955, soon after his graduation from St. Joseph's and was first stationed at Kindley, AFB, Bermuda where he played left guard on the base basketball team and in volleyball he was a set man. He also played with his squadron softball, volleyball and basketball teams. He was transferred to Kirtland Air Force Base in 1958 and immediately won a pitching berth on the base diamond squad. When the basketball season rolled around, his favorite sport, Chuck lost no time winning a place on the base's team and was a key factor in many sucessful seasons. Officially, he was an Airman Second Class and one of the base's sentries.
On Memorial Day, 1959 Chuck took as his bride Miss Lucille Frasier of Taos, New Mexico. The ceremony was performed in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos.
Chuck was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1963 and soon thereafter began a career in the banking industry, starting at Albuquerque Federal Credit Union. For the past 20+ years he worked in Business Development for the New Mexico Bank & Trust in Rio Rancho, successfully helping to grow the branch in over $100 M in business accounts/deposits.
In his mid-life, he was an avid golfer and fisherman, and he loved to play the ponies. Throughout his life he was a judicious advisor, trustworthy friend, honorable businessman, and beloved family man.
Chuck leaves his wife, Lucille Radaelli, of Albuquerque; three daughters, Holly Keys of Nashville, TN, Happy Radaelli of Albuquerque, and Anna "Rainbow" Radaelli of Oregon City, OR; five grandchildren, Ricardo Radaelli-Sanchez of New Orleans, LA, Randall Kaune of Aurora, CO, Sarah Scott of Albuquerque, Jesse Keys of Nashville, TN, and Savanah Radaelli of Albuquerque; and six great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Mattias, Elise, Ashlyn, Charlie, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Melinda Radaelli; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert Neveu; and five nephews and one niece, Allen, Craig, Mark, Jason, Jonah, and Jessica.
