Charles Edward Richardson Jr.

November 24, 1930 — November 4, 2014

Richardson, Charles Edward (Ed)

Age 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 4, 2014. He was deeply loved by family and friends. Charles was born in San Francisco, CA on November 24, 1930. Ed grew up in Fresno, CA, the adopted son of parents who loved him. His father was a Marine officer and Ed went on to serve as a Marine in the Korean War after high school. As a young man after the Korean War, Ed was an active participant in the Muscle Beach culture of Southern California. He was a friend of, and mentored by Muscle Beach luminaries, and they remembered him. Ed's war time training as a machinist led him to his post war career, first as a machinist, and ultimately as a supervisor of the work of others in the defense industry. Ed's work brought him to New Mexico in 1970 where he worked for EGG. There he met and married the love of his life JoAnne and they were married in 1979.

Ed fully absorbed and enjoyed the life and culture of New Mexico. He loved the sun. He loved the Chili. He loved the mountains and deserts, especially, Ed learned to ski, the start of a life-long love and the foundation of many deep and enduring friendships, and adventures. He was an avid ski instructor and racer until the end. Ed is remembered by friends and family as a man of tremendous curiosity, generosity, energy, skill, and an entrepreneurial can-do spirit. He also is remembered as a man capable of true Christian love for others.

Ed is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Richardson; son, Edward Richardson, III; step-daughters, Lou Anne Shortle, Elizabeth Evangel, and Vickie Richardson-Superman; step-son, Steven Evangel and grand-children.
