Charles Sanders

Age 87, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He was born in Mexia, TX on April 11, 1927, to William and Mary Ellen Sanders. Charles is survived by his son, Stephen Carl Sanders of Albuquerque; grandsons, Keith Paul Sanders and Jonathan David Sanders, both of Albuquerque; and brother, Carl Ray Sanders of Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Sanders and son, Dana Scott Sanders. Charles served in the US Army during the closing days of WWII. He graduated Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering. Charles was employed in Texas with Stanolind Oil and Gas Co., Sid W. Richardson, Inc., Texas Pacific Coal and Oil Co., and Perry R. Bass, Inc. After moving to New Mexico in 1968, he was employed with Pubco Petroleum Corp., Koch Oil Co., Petroleum Development Corp., and World Petroleum Corp. He also formed Sanders Petroleum Corp. and worked as an independent petroleum consultant. Charles was a member of Mountainside Church of Christ in Albuquerque. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Mountainside Church of Christ, 12300 Indian School Rd. NE, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of NM, 9500 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 121, Albuquerque, 87111.
