Torres, Christella 70, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at her home in Magdalena, NM. She was born in Magdalena on July 30, 1943 to Martin and Maria (Apodaca) Torres. Christella was a lifelong resident of Magdalena and everyone there knew her as a very kind and giving woman. She worked for the Village of Magdalena for many years and also dedicated much of her life to the church, teaching Catechism and serving as a Maridoma of St. Mary Magdalene. She enjoyed quilting, baking, and cooking. Above all she was a devout catholic and loved her God and her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her sisters, Antonia, Teresa, and Lucia Mamie; and her infant brothers, Gonzalo, Ramon, Martin, Avencio, and Rudolpho. Christella is survived by her devoted son, Manuel Romero and his wife, Jackie and their children and Christella's pride and joy, Sierra and Russell; her granddaughters, Keanna and Miranda Romero; her loving sister, Dolores Masters; her brother, Joe Richard Torres; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 9:30 am at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 10:00 am with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the Magdalena Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roman Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Lolo Madril, Ray Martinez, Joe Paiz, and Johnny Valenzuela. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Romero, Mason Torres, and Terrie Romer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions or donations may be given in Christella's honor to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
