Age 84, passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Marcial, NM on August 16, 1932, to Misais and Tomasita (Ulibarri) Apodaca. After the last great flood of the Rio Grande River in San Marcial, Clara and her family relocated to Socorro, NM. A member of the Harwood Methodist Church, she was a woman strong in her faith. She loved spending time with her family, gardening and she loved to cook traditional Mexican dishes. There was no one that could make chili better than she did. Clara was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Eliseo Gutierrez; and brothers, Pedro Garcia, Misais Apodaca, Jr., Porfirio Apodaca and Walter Ulibarri.
Clara is survived by her devoted children, Rose (Lindsey) Sellers, Rudy (Susan) Apodaca, Joseph E. (Victoria) Gutierrez, Dolores (Jake) Garcia, Elizabeth Davis, Eli Gutierrez, Darlene (Pete) Narvaez, Tim (Melissa) Gutierrez and Anthony (Amanda) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Marcy Holguin, Claudia Armendariz, Valerie Trujillo, Rudy Apodaca Jr., Amber Morse, Jeric Pahe, Joseph (JC) Gutierrez, Jenessa Hanna, Jenelle Garcia, Jaedyn Gutierrez, Elysia Gutierrez, Aspen Campbell, Andie Narvaez, Izabella Gutierrez, Mia Gutierrez, Deyon Martinez and Adalyn Gutierrez; 15 great grandchildren,1 great great granddaughter due in July; and sisters, Helen Harmon and Edna Rivera.
Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, 11:00 am, at Family Christian Center, Hwy 60 & Fowler, Socorro, with Pastor Randy Corley Officiating.
