Clyde Durden

March 26, 1951 — December 31, 2010

Clyde Durden, 59, of Farmington, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, leaving behind a family he loved and cherished, along with many memories of being a wonderful father and husband. A loving, protective brother of eight siblings, Clyde Durden was born March 26, 1951, in Missouri. He was known for being a star high school and college athlete who excelled in basketball, football and track. A Portageville High School graduate, he went on to receive a BS in Psychology. He served his country in the Air Force, which took him all over the world, including Turkey, Germany and England, where he met his beloved wife, Enid. The two made their home in Farmington, where they raised four daughters, Tracey, Malekka, Lekeah and Chardae. For Clyde, the five women in his life were his priority, his pride, and his ultimate joy. Clyde resided in Farmington for over three decades. He held a lifelong friendship with Mike Cole and Norbert Martinez. Along with these two special friends, Clyde had a large circle of friends that are too numerous to mention. However, his impact on the community and with those he loved will always be remembered. While there may be emptiness in our hearts from Clyde's absence, his legacy is to be celebrated. His recipes, sense of humor, love of music, extreme kindness, and most of all his faith continues to guide us. This gentle giant will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
