Col. Robert E. Nolan, Jr. (Ret)

November 27, 1929 — January 17, 2019

Colonel Robert E. Nolan, Jr. (Ret. USAF), born in Albany, New York on November 27, 1929, passed away on January 17, 2019 after a mercifully brief but valiant battle with cancer in Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Bob was extremely dedicated to his country, church and family. His primary focus was the extremely loving relationship and life he shared for 21 years with his wife, Jan. They shared a love and a life that the rest of us can only aspire to.

Bob began serving his country at the age of 20 as an enlisted airman and six years later was commissioned an officer. He served in 14 different assignments taking him and his family around the world. Of those 14 different assignments, he was proud and privileged to lead five commands in Colorado, Utah, Germany, Virginia and California.  After a long career of decorated distinguished service, he reached his highest and proudest military achievement. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel, an achievement whose responsibilities and duties he carried out proudly. He retired after 35 years and 8 months of service. During his highly respected and successful career, Bob received many decorations of honor. Bob's highest award was the Legion of Merit.

Bob was married to Lorraine Mara for 48 years and had 3 daughters; Lorraine, Sondra and Karen. After Lorraine passed, he married Janet Reesman in August of 1997. For 21 years, they lived happily in Rio Rancho.  These two unions are an inspiration to us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to: The Incarnation Catholic Church - Building Fund in memory of Bob Nolan, at 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE; Rio Rancho, NM 87144
