Connie Gene Pierce

January 10, 1955 — May 10, 2011

Connie Gene Pierce, 56, of Bloomfield, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. She was born Jan. 10, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, to Phyllis Ray Pierce and Jearl G. ³Slim² Pierce. Despite initial dire predictions for her future, Connie was an extraordinary girl who went on to accomplish and see many things in her life. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1977. She received her early education in some of the first special education classes ever offered in Gallup. Connie traveled to Europe and North Africa with her parents in the late 1970s, and lived on her own in group homes. She worked in several fields in Albuquerque and Farmington, and was one of the few able to safely run table saws and other power tools. She retired in 1987, and came home to her TV shows, casinos, traveling with Mom and Dad and her evening wine coolers. Connie was a loving, happy, joyful person who made everyone around her smile and be a little happier when they left. She was preceded in death by her father, Jearl G. ³Slim² Pierce; sister, Cheryl Marie; maternal grandparents, Helen Monroe and Chester Monroe; paternal grandparents, Minnie M. Pierce and James Oscar Pierce. Connie is survived by her mother, Phyllis Rae Pierce; brother, Jearl R. Pierce and his wife, Julie; sister, Karla K. Evans; nephews, Brian J. Pierce and Joshua T. Evans, and his wife, Christina; nieces, Shantell, Danika and Ellia; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from all over the U.S.; and many, many friends. Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. Farmington, (505) 325-8688.
