Knapp, Cornelia Jacoba Bedeaux
Cornelia “Corrie” Jacoba (Bedeaux) Knapp, age 99, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1973, passed away January 16, 2016. She was born in The Hague, Netherlands on November 19, 1916, the daughter of Cornelis and Johanna (Anna) W. (Van der Haak) Bedeaux. Corrie attended schools in the Netherlands and later graduated with degrees in Home Economics and Business after attending school at the New York Institute of Finance. Her later education was cut short due to World War II. Corrie immigrated to the United States in 1947 and became an American citizen in 1956. She lived in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Illinois before moving to Rio Rancho. She was employed as an executive secretary/office manager at a Wall Street brokerage firm in New York, then she was with an engineering firm in Batavia, Illinois and lastly, in hospital administration in Albuquerque. After taking an early retirement, she and her husband, Darwin, traveled extensively. Corrie also remained active in sports, and was active with her church and the Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.). In addition, music and gardening always played a big role in her life. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Amboy Chapter #151 of the OES in South Amboy, NJ, and a charter member of the Turquoise Chapter #71 of the OES, a charter member of St Paul’s United Church of Christ, a member of the Meadowlark Senior Center, all of Rio Rancho and a member of AARP. Corrie was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin H. Knapp, sisters; Emma Joan Bedeaux and J.W. (Annie) Roeleveld-Bedeaux. She is survived by her nephew, Jan Roeleveld and wife Joan of the Netherlands along with her 2nd family, Ton and Keith Creveling, Regina (Gina) Cooper and Myka Creveling of Albuquerque along with many friends. A Celebration of Corrie’s life will be 2 pm Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road at Meadowlark Lane SE in Rio Rancho. Private placement of her cremated remains will be in the Rose Garden of Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.
