Green, Dale W. Age 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, 2013. He was born April 10, 1928 to and Furney and Della (Dawson) Green in McAlester, OK. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edwin, Ray, Ralph and James; sister, Pauline; and son, Ron. Dale is survived by his wife, Alma (Garrison) Green of Socorro, NM; daughter, Janet Green and husband, Eddie of Las Cruces, NM; son, Jim Green and wife, Yolanda of Santa Fe, NM; grandson, Wesley Green; daughter-in-law, Cindy of Wichita, KS; nieces, Nancy Powell, Beth Ogle, Joyce Ann Shepard, Kay Green, and Linda Ward and husband, Bruce; nephews, Jimmy Duck and wife, Sherry, Robert Duck and wife, Kathy, Charlie Black and wife, Judy, and Ken Black and wife, Barbe. Perri and Randy Jennings officially adopted Dale as "Pops" being a special member of the family as well as close friend Georgia Seery. He has been graciously cared for by Donna Taylor and Renee Lopez. Dale grew up in McAlester graduating from high school and attending college in Wilburton and Miami, OK. He lived in Las Cruces, El Paso, and Carrizozo before moving to Socorro in 1960. Dale was an Army veteran who served first in postwar Japan and then in the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a civil engineer at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) for 30 years supervising facilities at Stallion Range Center for most of that time. He had an extraordinary work ethic and received numerous commendations for exemplary service. Dale capped off his career consulting on Department of Defense contracts for two decades with Cortez III and PMR corporations. Dale was inducted into the WSMR Hall of Fame in 2009. He was appointed by Governor Garrey Carruthers to serve on the International Space Hall of Fame Commission in the late 1980's. Dale was active in the Socorro community having taught classes in the continuing education programs, serving on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Socorro Men's Golf Association, and as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, watching University of Oklahoma football, Nancy and Beth's barrel racing, Robert and Kathy's Duck Racing and good New Mexican food. He followed New Mexico State University (NMSU) Aggie basketball for many years. Dale loved his wife and family dearly, especially Wes, his only grandchild. Services will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 304 McCutcheon Ave., Socorro followed by interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers are the Honorable Don Tripp Jr., Holm Bursum III, Col (Ret.) Frank Geisel, Dr. Dennis Stanley, Jimmy Duck and Eddie Binder.
