Daniel D. Aschenbrenner, born September 23, 1959, in Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away December 21, 2024 in Rio Rancho. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Cathrine Aschenbrenner. Dan graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Virginia, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Radford University VA. He continued his education at the University of Alaska. He dedicated his career to being a respected and accomplished Special Education teacher, making a significant impact on the lives of many students.
Dan was known for his gentle spirit and boundless love for those around him. He cherished his time spent fishing on his boat in Prince William Sound among his many other adventures in Alaska. He loved playing his guitars for hours each day and spending time at the cabin in the Jemez. His kindness shone brightly in everything he did, reflecting his deep connections with loved ones.
Throughout his life, Dan maintained strong ties with many of his high school friends and co-workers, showcasing his loyalty and dedication to those he cared for. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sandy, and his stepsons and their wives. Ray (Monica) Chavez, Carl (Anjelica) Chavez, and Randy (Tracy) Chavez. He was a proud grandfather to Samantha, Brandon, Isabella, Kimberly, and Marissa Chavez, as well as Lloyd and Adrianna Aragon. He is also survived by his siblings, Ted (Caroline) Aschenbrenner, John (Mimi) Aschenbrenner, Constance Aschenbrenner and his beloved dog, Buddy, his constant companion.
Daniel will be remembered as a gentle giant who loved deeply and lived fully. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of life will take places in the Jemez mountains in May.
