Darold "Dean" Waddell, 79, of Aztec, NM, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Darold was born in Valley Center, KS on Sept. 3, 1929. He graduated from Marion, KS. Dean was beloved husband and friend to many. Dean worked for Public Service Co. of CO for 20 years. He retired and drove semi trucks for 5 years. He moved to Aztec in 1993 and started growing garlic to sell at the Farmington and Aztec Growers Market. He became know as the "Garlic Man."
Dean was preceded in death by his parents.
Dean is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy; brother Dwight and wife Jerry Waddell of Brookhaven, MS, sisters-in-law Virginia Merry and husband Larry of Albuquerque, Linda Reid of Scottsdale, AZ. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephew, Mary Burge, Jane Waddell, Alice Waddell, Dwight Waddell, Carol Merry, Julie Merry, and Patrick Merry. Also great niece Catherine Waddell and great nephew Sean McDermott and wife Sarah.
