Darra left this world on Saturday, January 13, 2024 with her husband John by her side. Darra was born in Champaign, Illinois and moved to Los Alamos when she was two years old with her dad, mom and older sister, Kathy. Darra became a big sister to Trish, Mike, Eddie and Colleen.
Darra was the second oldest of six children. She was born to Dr Edward R Flynn and the late Gail (Bauer) Flynn. She is predeceased by her son Jacob Busse, mom Gail, brother Edward Flynn Jr, nephew Jordon, and nephew Christopher. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years John Gallegos, her son Jim Busse and wife Alicia, dad Edward R. Flynn Sr and wife Maureen, Kathy Flynn and husband Dave, Trish Carrillo and husband Lou, Mike Flynn and wife Rebecca, Colleen Owens and husband Rob, Donna Lopez and husband Armando. She is also survived by her grandson Jesus Gonzales.
Darra is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great niece and great nephews which she adored and cherished. Plus, many cousins all over the country.
Darra had a heart of gold. There were many family holiday gatherings at their house with baked goodies, tamales, cookies of all kinds, and warmth. She welcomed every one into their home. Darra always had a small gift in her hands when visiting family and friends.
Darra was a 1974 graduate of Los Alamos High School. She worked at LATA for many years, and then Power Ford. Her health got the best of her and she retired with husband John and their little dog Charley – who is wondering where her momma has gone.
Darra loved butterflies and the color purple. When she passed, there was a sign on the door of purple butterflies letting everyone know she was on her journey home.
We will miss Darra immensely. Our grief is almost unbearable.
There will be a memorial at a later date at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos where she will be laid to rest near her mom, Christopher and Eddie.
