Dave Martin Wood

Wood, Dave Martin 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2013 in Truth or Consequences, NM. He was born in Vigo Park, TX on July 23, 1918 to Walter and Lena Davis Wood. Dave served his country in the US Army during WWII. He served in Africa and Italy. After the war, he was a cook at the Amarillo, TX Air Force Base and also in Biloxi, MS. Dave enjoyed canning food and loved to garden. He was the resident gardener at the New Mexico State Veterans Home until his health failed. Dave was a resident of Truth or Consequences since 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Wood; his grandson, Stephen Cannon; his daughter, Patricia Pierce; and his parents. Dave is survived by his son, Aubrey Cannon and wife, Susan; his sister, Willie Mae Robb; his grandchildren, Stacey Fitzwater and husband, T.J.; Aubrey Cannon Jr. and wife, Hilary; Scott Pierce; Jasen Leviner; and Nowka Leviner; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Fitzwater; Drexel Fitzwater; Jesse Marquez; Ian Cannon; and Alyssa Cannon. Dave was also survived by his great great grandson, Mason Marquez . A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 2:15 pm in the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe.
