David E. DeWalt Jr, 68, of Albuquerque, NM was called home by Our Lord, December 16, 2023, in the loving presence of his Beloved Wife, Sister and Brother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean and step-father Sam; his father, David Eugene DeWalt Sr.; brother, Michael and sister, Catherine.
David is survived by his beloved wife Yvonne; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Richard; niece and nephew-in-law, Samantha and Brian; great nieces, Allie and Ella; sister-in-law, Lisa; nieces Michelle and Patricia; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Virginia; nieces Elizabeth and Rebecca; great-nephew, Owen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Christina; half-brother, James Kevin and his family; many other wonderful family members, great friends and his loyal dogs, Beauregard and Holley Marie.
David loved the Lord, his Family and his Country. He served in the US Army, 237th Engineer Battalion 7th Engineer Brigade, in Heilbronn, Germany. David had a kind and generous heart, loved all forms of art and enjoyed helping others. He loved the outdoors, reading, listening to music and could tell great stories. David enjoyed hunting and planned trips with his step-dad, Sam and father-in-law Frank. He had a passion for riding and working on classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, and enjoyed the “Art of the Deal”. David smoked the tastiest ribs and made a delicious spaghetti sauce.
David had an interesting career. He was a cowboy in Las Vegas, NM, worked on an off shore oil rig, drove a semi, worked for the AT&SF Railway, was a barge engineer for Houston Barge Lines traveling up and down the Mississippi, worked as a heavy equipment and diesel mechanic for various construction and automotive companies, was a car salesman and retired as a Fire Mechanic for Bernalillo County Fire Department.
David will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will forever be in our hearts.

A Rosary and Mass will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, 11:00 AM, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send a donation in memory of David to one of his favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Albuquerque Humane Society, New Mexico Boys Ranch or any Veterans Organization.
