David George Brown, 71, was taken from us on April 14th, 2024, at 11:23PM.
He is predeceased by his wife Beatrice Bradbury, his father George Brown, and his mother Frances Brown.
He is survived by his son William, daughter Barbara, and sister Lorraine.
After several bouts of severe intestinal bleeding, he was released from Presbyterian hospital to the care of his children. Shortly thereafter he passed away. He was not in pain.
Dave grew up in Aurora, Colorado alongside his younger sister Lorraine. From a young age he loved animals (including hunting and trapping wild ones). He had more stories of their dog Sandy than of himself.
He met Beatrice in Albuquerque, New Mexico and married her in 1988. They loved backpacking the Grand Canyon, raising a pack of dogs, and eating Beatrice’s grand dinners.
Beatrice was struck down by cancer in 1995. Shortly after her death Dave graduated from UNM with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Having been left a widower with two small children and severe depression, Dave was very nearly destroyed. He never remarried and gave everything that was left of himself to raising his children.
Dave will be remembered by all those touched by his generous spirit. He would open his home if someone reached out in need of rest. Those who were isolated by rural conditions could count on him to turn up with a truck full of supplies. When his children's friends moved away, he spent his weekends driving back and forth to increasingly impractical sleepovers so his children wouldn't be lonely.
Dave was not a religious man. He was a lover of all things wild. It brings us comfort to think that somewhere a piece of Dave is chasing spring rabbits with the foxes, snatching fish and fowl with the hawks, stalking goats, and deer with big cats, and bedding down to a restful winter in the mountains.
The world is a poorer place without him.
