David B. Hanauer, 62, a long time resident of Rio Rancho, NM, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2015. He was born in Oak Ridge, TN to Dr. Stephen and Darleen Hanauer on December 25, 1952. He grew up on the banks of the Tennessee River. He loved fishing, boating and camping; he took his kids on many outings. He loved computers and biking, as well as playing chess. He had been involved in the local bike club in Rio Rancho, teaching bicycle safety to the community. He met his wife Sue in Albuquerque in 1972 while hitchhiking cross-country. Six weeks later they were married. They moved to Durango, CO where they had two kids. Three other children were born while David was attending Mt. Vernon Bible College in Mt. Vernon, OH. Then they moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1989 and eventually bought a house in Rio Rancho and have resided there ever since. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his generous heart. He was preceded in death by father and step-mother, Dr. Stephen and Cyndi Hanauer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue; his children: Naomi Heitman; Abigail Armstrong; Simon Hanauer; Micah Hanauer; Hannah Hanauer; sisters: Louise Hanauer; Judy Evans; Nancy Hatfield; step-sister, Laura Hamlett; step-brother, Michael Rankin; his mother, Darleen Lambert. Join us in remembering and celebrating his life at a Service / Open House / Potluck that will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015; the Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with an Open House / Potluck until 1:00 p.m. at 684 Silver Saddle SE, Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to either BikeAbq at bikeabq.org or to Rio Rancho Art Association at rraa.usa.org.
